If you’ve landed on this page, it’s probably because you’re at a major crossroads in life, and you have no idea how to handle this. Something big has happened – your relationship is over; you moved across the country and know nobody; your parent is dying – and you’ve become a different version of yourself.

It’s been hard to keep up with every day life, or to even explain to others how you feel or what can help. Everything feels too much, or not enough, and nobody can relate to what it’s like. You’re grieving the way things could have been, and the life you’re not getting to experience - but how can you explain this to somebody?

I get it.

Whether this life transition has been planned or not, you may be experiencing a traumatic response to this change, and it can be bringing up a lot to the surface that you never expected.

My expertise lies in helping individuals who are going through painful, unfamiliar and uncertain seasons of life, and are experiencing trauma and grief while navigating them.

I know how this feels…

Having been through periods of my own life which felt destabilizing and unclear, I have a personal connection to this work. While change is a known and expected part of life, some change can truly leave it’s mark and profoundly alter us.

As a third generation Holocaust survivor, my genes and family history have been marked by the profound change and life altering experiences that my grandparents went through. There are stories, patterns, and familiar fears that I’ve inherited just by being their grandchild - protective “parts” of my internal system that I’ve developed to help me survive unknown and threatening experiences. During my own personal struggles, though very different from those of my ancestors, I too struggled with feeling devastated, confused, and scared.

Here’s what changed for me

Through doing my own Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, I got to deeply know and understand the ways that my unique system was reacting to the pain I was experiencing. Rather than judging or criticizing myself for how I reacted, I learned how to treat myself as someone I truly care for, no matter what was happening externally. I responded to the deep fears and unmet needs inside of me, unlocking a felt sense of safety from within.

This is possible for you too.

My Therapeutic Approach

  • A non-pathologizing approach that helps us to understand our minds as being made up of numerous “parts” – like a team inside of you– all with the intention to help and protect you. However, just like any team, our parts sometimes are in conflict and have different ideas of how to help. In IFS therapy, we work together to address these conflicts, and unburden parts carrying wounds and extreme beliefs that are no longer helping us. In doing so, we gain a sense of inner leadership and sturdiness that helps us to navigate life’s ups and downs.

  • Focused on bringing awareness to and challenging irrational and unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, and developing skills to promote healthier responses to difficult or triggering situations. By combining CBT into IFS therapy, we can better understand the ways that our “parts” have made meaning of the experiences you’ve had in life, and identify “thought traps” that our parts get stuck in. We can also promote meaningful behavioral changes that support growth and breakthroughs.

  • This approach offers practical tools and useful techniques to promote the development of mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal skills. DBT helps our internal systems to learn effective ways to find balance, as it offers guidance and easily applicable steps to help reduce overwhelm and emotional flooding. DBT is useful for clients struggling with relational and communication challenges as well, teaching “interpersonal effectiveness” skills.

  • A mindfulness-based modality that is focused on helping people to treat themselves with the same love and warmth that they naturally offer others. So many of us can be loving and understanding shoulders to lean on for others, but we struggle to turn that around and give ourselves that grace. This approach is helpful for reducing feelings of shame through development of resilience and self-kindness.

Outside of the Therapy Room…

I was born and raised in New York, and have lived in South FL for 10 years. I’m a partner, friend, daughter, sister, and God mother. I am a lover of good food, music and movies, and travel. You might find me exploring new places, enjoying time outdoors, or lounging with my cats, Lila, Jax and Chloe. While I love being social and active, I also love the comforts of life like reading a book on a rainy day.
